Special music set by Jackson Smith - Music royalty, versatile musician, one of Detroit's favorite's that has traveled and performed with many national bands, recently played The Tonight Show with Patti Smith. Plays in local band, The Orbitsuns.
Rachel Reed - Minimalist artist. Space Designer. Clean, neat, and orderly anarchy against the cultural conditioning of excess. Paints shapes, almost, in repetition, like
a soothing mantra.
Kenneth Hershenson - A self-taught Michigan contemporary artist whose approach is rooted in the twin disciplines of realism and illustration. His current project is his award-winning series of photo-realistic acrylic paintings depicting vintage toy chrome jacks placed in unexpected settings and scales creating tongue-in-cheek picture puns. His art has placed in the top 25 at Art Prize and was recently on TV’s NCIS New Orleans!
Niagara - Prints will be on display and for sale! For decades, Niagara has been an inspiration to many female artists around the world. Her tough-talking, no excuses, pill-popping, getaway-car driving femme fatales - take freedom to extreme highs with her signature bold, colorful, comic book style dames. Niagara is the Queen of Detroit.
Debbie Sipes - Photos and prints. Her collection, Detroit (paper) Dolls - fun art
collages with original photographs of cityscapes from Detroit. Inspired by her
battle with stage 3 breast cancer, Debbie has had a comeback after being
broken. The collages represent rebuilding and rebirth.
Art by Opie - Weaned on MAD magazine, 60's and 70's hot rod art, young OPIE
frittered away his school years on sketching instead of schoolwork. This diligence
has certainly paid off, as the west side's self-proclaimed "No Brow" artist has several solo shows under his belt, including collaborations with Mike Kelly of Funhouse
Gallery, Chin's, and Wyandotte's luxurious Biddle Bowl.
Kathy Haefner - A graduate from the College for Creative Studies with a BFA in
Design. In addition to her lively career in Graphics she has a multitude of other
creative pursuits including metals/ jewelry, enameled belt buckles, handcrafted
purses as well as poetry and writing to name a few. These latest acrylic paintings
are from a current series she calls “Birds of Pray”.
John Scymore - A mystery, one of those rare creatures who act as crucibles in which the diverse and often chaotic phenomena of culture are focused, who seem to body forth the artistic life of their age in one person. Medium: Collage art.
